Rainbow Waterfall Facts
Rainbow waterfall is one of the popular tourist attractions in northern Bandung. It is considered the highest, most beautiful, and closest waterfall to the city of Bandung. It is called rainbow waterfall as the rainbow looks like the colors of rainbow in the late afternoon after the locals light the colorful lights behind the running water. This 87-meter high waterfall is getting more and more popular after the Amazing Race team made this place as the pit stop during their race in Bandung. So if you are planning to have a trip to Bandung, make sure that you also include this wonderful place into your tour package.
The locals also name this place ‘Curug Cimahi’. The word ‘curug’ itself means ‘waterfall’ while ‘Cimahi’ is the name of the area where the waterfall is located.
Location of Rainbow Waterfall
This amazing waterfall is located in the intersection of Cimahi regency and Lembang regency, but most people would come here via Kolonel Masturi Street at Lembang. It takes roughly 1 hour of driving from downtown Bandung to reach this place.
When to Visit Rainbow Waterfall
This waterfall is open every day from 8 am to 5 pm. However this place is closed for public during heavy rain to avoid accident due to landslide that often happens in this area. If you come here in the afternoon around 2.30 to 4.30 pm, you will see lots of wild monkeys within the waterfall area which gives special entertainment for the visitors.
What to Find Near Rainbow Waterfall
There are lots of stalls near the entrance of the waterfall where you can buy some snacks, drinks, and fresh coconut water. If you wish to go elsewhere after you visit this place, you can also visit Bamboo Village which is located within less than 1 kilometer away from this waterfall. There is also forest-look-alike café which can be reached within around 10 minutes from here. And if you wish to come here after visiting the Floating Market, you can reach this place within around 20 minutes of driving from the market.
This magnificent waterfall is located quite close to Tangkuban Perahu. So if you plan to take the Bandung volcano tour, you can simply include the visit to his waterfall. However for those senior citizens or those who are not physically fit, it is not recommended to go down closer to the waterfall as you will have to go up the stairs which are quite steep and tiring. If you plan to come here, make sure that you come here early in the morning when the sun is not too strong so that you won’t get too tired. Also please make sure that you bring towel and walking shoes or sunblock lotion when you come to Bandung, Indonesia.
