Sari Ater Hot Spring Resort

History of Sari Ater Hot Spring Resort

The hot spring in northern Bandung was first discovered by the Dutch in the nineteenth century, only a few decades after the Dutch established a tea plantation in the area. Later they did a scientific research about the usefulness of the hot spring and soon after the news spread to the locals and more and more people came to the area to try to cure their illness such as skin disease, locomotion, strained joints, rheumatism, and many more. The hot spring water itself contains many useful minerals such as sulfur, iodine, iron, manganese, calcium, sulfate, chloride, zinc, cadmium, lithium, potassium, magnesium, and copper with average pH level at 2.75.

After Indonesia got independence in the year of 1945, the hot spring was taken over by the Indonesian and in 1967 the government named the place Sari Ater Hot Spring Resort. Gradually the local authority began to build more facilities within the resort, such as hotel and villas, restaurants, more pools, playing ground for children, horse riding facilities, etc.
