There are several volcanoes in West Java province, but the most famous volcanoes are Mount Tangkuban Perahu and Mount Patuha. Mount Tangkuban Perahu which literally means ‘upturned or upside down boat’ in English is the most popular of the two. Located around 30 kilometers north of the city of Bandung, this volcano can be reached within 1 hour from downtown Bandung (normal traffic). Therefore if you can only stay for a short period of time in Bandung, the visit to this volcano is a must and should be the top priority of other places that you wish to visit. Its elevation is at 2,084 meters or around 6,837 feet above the sea level. Though this place is open for public from 7 am to 5 pm, the best time to visit this volcano is in the morning.
